Abstract:

Objectives:

Radicular cysts, inflammatory lesions arising from necrotic pulps, often require surgical intervention. However, advancements in endodontic techniques offer non-surgical alternatives. This case report presents a successful non-surgical approach to a periapical cyst associated with a traumatized central incisor.

A patient presented with discolored and irregularly arranged upper front teeth. Radiographic evaluation, including panoramic radiography and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), confirmed a well-defined osteolytic lesion involving the maxillary central and lateral incisors. A definitive diagnosis of a radicular cyst was established. The treatment plan involved endodontic therapy for both the central and lateral incisors, followed by internal bleaching of the central incisor. Regular follow-up CBCT scans monitored the healing process, revealing progressive reduction and eventual complete resolution of the cyst.

This case demonstrates the efficacy of non-surgical endodontic therapy in managing periapical cysts, particularly in cases involving trauma. The integration of advanced imaging techniques like CBCT is crucial for accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring of healing, ultimately leading to successful outcomes without surgical intervention.
